Specification, Chemical & Mechanical Performance

Overview

Powder metallurgy (PM) superalloys are manufactured by atomizing molten superalloy into fine powder, followed by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) or HIP-plus-forging processes. The resulting material features a highly uniform, fine-grained microstructure free of macro-segregation, meeting the stringent demands of critical hot-section components such as turbine disks in high thrust-to-weight ratio engines.

Key Advantages

Attribute

Description

Uniform Microstructure

Fine and homogeneous grain distribution achieved through rapid solidification of atomized powder.

Segregation-Free

Eliminates macro-segregation inherent in conventional cast-and-wrought processing, ensuring consistent properties throughout the component.

High Fatigue Life

Superior resistance to low-cycle fatigue (LCF), essential for rotating components under cyclic thermal and mechanical loading.

Ideal for High-Stress Rotating Parts

Exceptional combination of tensile strength, creep resistance, and damage tolerance at elevated temperatures.

Applications

  • Aerospace: High thrust-to-weight ratio engine turbine disks, compressor disks, and turbine baffles
