Workability

This UNS N08825 steel features an efficient workability, allowing for an easy cold and hot work process similar to that of standard austenitic stainless steels. Its superior strength ensures good performance for a wide range of applications.

Weldability

This UNS N08825 product is a highly adaptable nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with superior weldability. It can be welded using shielded metal arc welding, TIG welding, and MIG welding, the same as standard austenitic stainless steels. Welding consumables should be Alloy 625 (DNiCrMo-3) for optimal results.

Machinability

UNS N08825 is a versatile stainless steel with excellent machinability. Its machining performance is comparable to standard austenitic stainless steels, and optimal results are achieved with high speed steel tools, superhard tools, slow feed speed, and large cut depth.

Heat Treatment

This stainless steel (Type 321) has been heat treated to meet the standards of stable austenitic stainless steel, with a solution heat treatment of 930-1030°C and rapid cooling. Its superior heat resistance makes it ideal for applications where other steels may fail.

Pickling

Alloy 825 is a corrosion-resistant material, making it difficult to remove scale using the conventional pickling process. To remove scale, it's recommended to pre-treat the material with an alkaline solution or shot blasting.

Applications

Built to withstand corrosion and wear, UNS N08825 (2.4858) is an optimal choice for applications in oil drilling, chemical plants, and other demanding industrial environments. Its superior tensile strength and durability ensure reliable performance and long-term cost-savings.
